Welcome to Historic Roser Park

This Saint Petersburg neighborhood boasts the first to be designated as historic. It’s a hidden-gem community with gentle hills, a rambling stream, and abundant natural beauty

Perched along the meandering Booker Creek, the Historic Roser Park neighborhood delights residents and visitors with its leafy green streets and park-like setting. The only hilly neighborhood in all of Saint Petersburg, the landscape is a refreshing contrast to other areas of the city while still retaining the color-rich flora typical of South Florida.

Historic Roser Park is well-established and is the first historic neighborhood in the city of Saint Petersburg. Additionally, this swath of verdant suburbia was the first residential subdivision to be developed outside of Downtown, and in its earlier days, the area functioned as a streetcar suburb for professionals looking to escape the busier lifestyle of the urban city center.

Modern-day Historic Roser Park has the benefit of ample architectural variety thanks to its long history. From Mediterranean Revival and Craftsman Bungalows to Neoclassical homes and Tudor Revival estates, this stunning neighborhood is full of options to please vast design preferences.

Local Lifestyle

As a neighborhood inspired by the City Beautiful Movement — which aimed to create highly livable environments replete with park spaces, sensitive design, and city landscaping — Historic Roser Park has been an idyllic setting from its inception. Residents work tirelessly to preserve the area’s aesthetic allure, and as with much of Saint Petersburg, the neighborhood is highly community-oriented.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Part of the attraction for those living in Historic Roser Park is the lack of bustling commercial areas within the boundaries of the neighborhood itself. Here, residents can rest assured that their sidewalks will always be peaceful and their scenery halcyon. However, a few minutes north via bike, the Central Arts District of Saint Petersburg awaits with a fabulous assortment of offbeat boutiques, innovative restaurants, and trendy art galleries.

Historic Roser Park is near several must-try restaurants, including St. Petersburg and Florida mini-chains such as Kahwa Coffee. Revered for having the freshest roasts and globally-sourced beans, Kahwa Coffee is a staple for South Floridians.

Other dining options include The Library, which serves New American eats, cocktails, and sumptuous coffees from their effortlessly cool venue inspired by the great George Peabody. For casual dining with exceptional flavors, locals know to hit up the Crab House, famous for their garlic chicken wings and mouth-watering crab dishes.

Things to Do

A well-laid brick path runs parallel to the small creek at the neighborhood’s namesake Roser Park, and here, you’ll encounter residents out and about on daily strolls through the palm-shaded walkways. Small but lovely, Roser Park embodies the essence of the neighborhood and is just one example of the love Saint Petersburg has for rejuvenating green spaces.

The park also serves as a venue for some of the neighborhood’s most anticipated events, such as the annual PorchFest and Art in the Park. Musicians from all over the nation provide live performances throughout the day, while vendors provide top-notch food and the works of local artists are on display.

Though Historic Roser Park might stick to mostly residential offerings and amenities within its boundaries, the neighborhood is within walking and biking distance of premier cultural institutions and entertainment facilities. Whether it’s taking in art at The Dalí Museum, a performance at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, or sailing your yacht out from the Safe Harbor Harborage Marina, you’ll never be lacking options for excitement in Historic Roser Park.
